Succulent Hexagons from Kaffe Fassett’s Quilts by the Sea

In this workshop, Kaffe has taken a traditional snowball and made it fabulous simply by the use of colour.

Keep this in mind when choosing fabrics : find you colour and don’t stray too far from it, keep your choices harmonious. For example, if you would like to explore RED, bring reds, oranges, reddish purples, magenta, warm brown, etc.

For the hexagons, bring ¼ to ½ yard cuts of 20 or so different large-scale fabrics in the colour story of your choosing. For the points, you may wish to wait and purchase fabrics at the workshop after you have set up your hexagons. The quilt is more successful if the points colour way is different to your hexagon colour way. The points create a frame and sets off the hexagons.

If you are not sure how you are going to proceed, that’s okay. You can bring your stash favorites and be prepared to shop with Kaffe and Brandon at the workshop.

Please feel free to bring any fabrics you would like to use to the workshop— these do not have to be Kaffe Fassett Collective fabrics.

In addition to fabric, please bring these supplies:

• Rotary cutter with a new blade

• Cutting mat—at least 12” x 18”. In some cases, you may be cutting width of fabric strips.

• Quilter’s rotary ruler at least 6” x 18”. In some cases, you may be cutting width of fabric strips

• Fabric scissors

• Pencil

• Pins

• Optional: reducing glass or peephole

Your host shop will provide:

• Kaffe Fassett’s Quilts by the Seabook which features the quilt you are making so you can refer to it for cutting instructions and overall reference.

• Paper Pieces Mediterranean/Succulent Hexagon Combo Acrylic Templates.

• Flannel Design Wall

• Lunch and snacks (Call the shop if you have special dietary restrictions.)
